The 10 Best Things to Do In (and Around) Murrells Inlet

Looking to spend your summer in the best of South Carolina’s Lowcountry? Surrounded by pristine beaches (only 20 minutes from Myrtle Beach!) and championship golf courses, it is ideal for a much-needed vacation. And did we mention that Murrells Inlet is called the seafood capital of the world? With so much to see in Murrells Inlet and only a short trip away from one of the southeast’s most popular beaches, we wanted to show you our 10 favorite things to do in the area, so your trip can be as exciting as possible!

Murrells Inlet Marshwalk - Located at the heart of Murrells Inlet, this ½ mile boardwalk sits along a natural saltwater estuary. Not only does it offer great scenery, it features some of the finest dining, shops and live entertainment in the area!

Brookgreen Gardens - Want to add some additional time outdoors to your trip, without going to the beach? Take a trip to the Brookgreen Gardens! Here you can explore the Lowcountry History and Wildlife Preserve, become a zookeeper for a day at the Lowcountry Zoo, or walk through the beautiful botanical gardens.

Huntington Beach State Park - Nature lovers will love the park’s wide variety of things to see, including the chance to see loggerhead turtles and other endangered plant and animal species up close. At the park’s freshwater lake, you may even see some alligators, as well as minks! If art is your thing, the park hosts the Atalaya Arts and Crafts Festival in September, located at the former home of Archer and Anna Hyatt Huntington.

Waccamaw Neck Bikeway - For those looking to spend their vacation on the move, the Waccamaw Neck Bikeway offers 18 miles of paved road that parallels the inlet.

Lee’s Farmers Market - This locally owned and operated market features all the fresh produce you could want, with everything from quality fine cuts of meat, farm fresh produce, international cheeses and wine, you’ll find groceries from everyday to gourmet.

If you’re looking for attractions that are only a short drive away in the always bustling town of Myrtle Beach, here are a few of our favorite attractions there!

Skywheel Myrtle Beach - If you’ve ever wanted a birdseye view of Myrtle Beach, the Skywheel is the place to get that. Located on the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk, these gondolas will take you nearly 200 feet in the air, allowing you a beautiful view of the beach and its surroundings.

Ripley’s Aquarium - Explore the oceans of the world, all within one building! Dive with sharks, touch stingrays, and travel through the Dangerous Reef tunnel, with the ocean’s creatures so close, you can almost touch them!

Broadway at the Beach - After a long day at the beach, what’s better than indulging in some shopping and great food? Broadway at the Beach features nearly 100 unique shops, incredible restaurants and bars, and fun attractions. With so much to do, it’s easy to spend an entire day exploring Broadway at the Beach.

Myrtle Beach Zipline Adventures - For those who like a little bit of thrill-seeking on their vacation, Myrtle Beach Zipline Adventures offers multiple ziplines and an Adventure Ropes Course, perfect for adrenaline junkies.

Myrtle Waves Water Park - Featuring water slides, tube rides, a kid’s play area, and other family attractions, South Carolina’s largest water park has something for everyone if you want to get wet at the beach, without dealing with the sand and surf!
